Whether you’re looking for a convenient snack for the kids to bring to school, or a grab’n go dessert, these fudgy and chewy mini brownies topped with Oreos are perfect for both occasions!
Did you know that Oreos are an “accidental vegan food”? Enjoying vegan treats has never been easier!
I created this recipe for a school project I did on food and nutrition, so I thought I would share it on my blog as well. I know these brownies aren’t considered healthy, but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying these sweet treats every so often! Plus, the miniature size of the brownies allow you to satisfy your sugar cravings in two bites.

Ingredients rundown
- The dry ingredients consists of all purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder and salt.
- The wet ingredients consists of unsweetened nondairy milk, melted vegan butter (make sure it’s not margarine, which differs from traditional stick butter), and the egg replacers below:
Ground flaxseed, or flax meal is combined with water to create 1/2 of the egg replacers in this recipe. When the flax meal is mixed with water, it creates an almost gel-liked texture that helps bind the brownie together.
Our second egg replacer is unsweetened apple sauce. Make sure the apple sauce is 100% pure, with no additives! Much like the flax mixture, apple sauce helps with binding and makes the brownies fluffy and moist. Don’t worry, the apple sauce will not affect the taste of the brownies!
- Other ingredients added to the brownies include your choice of vegan chocolate chips and regular sized Oreos. Alternatively, you can top the mini brownies with mini Oreos if you’d like.
FAQs
For baking, I like to use soy, oat, or cashew milk since they are one of the thicker plant milks, and help make the brownies more rich.
It’s up to you! I like to use semi sweet vegan milk chocolate, but dark, or even white chocolate works just as well.
Though I have not tried it before, you could possibly use mashed banana instead of apple sauce, and chia seeds instead of flax meal. For the chia seeds, you will need to add an additional 1/2 tbsp of water.
